Housing
Lakehouse Villas offers lakeside luxury on the shoreline of Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown, blending modern comforts with stunning natural beauty. This Frankton Road development, one of the several housing developments we are working on with Gibbons Co, features 63 freehold villas, including dual-key single-bedroom studios, 3-bedroom villas, and 4-bedroom lakehouses.
The architecture and landscape of Lakehouse Villas is guided by three core principles: Terrain, Grain, and Tactility. These elements are integral to our approach, ensuring the development is not only visually compelling but also contextually relevant and sustainable.
The architectural typologies are thoughtfully aligned with the surrounding terrain, reinforcing a strong connection to the local landscape.
The development is responsive to the site’s unique topography, transitioning from the hillside down to lakeside. This movement is mirrored in the material palette, which shifts from darker tones near the entry to lighter hues as one approaches the lake.
A palette of refined, simple materials connects the architecture to the earth, with rendered finishes grounding the buildings in the landscape. Stained weatherboards reference historical cottage designs with a contemporary twist, while plastered forms echo the schist foundations of the site. This materiality aligns with our sustainable design goals, which includes pre-fabrication of insulated walls and roofs for superior quality product and programme advantages onsite.
