BAS GDipDE MArch(Prof)

Kaline joined DGSE after completing his Master's Degree in Architecture at Te Herenga Waka. His research is rooted in iTaukei (Native Fijian) traditions, practices, and values - knowledge that is embodied, lived, and carried forward across generations. Through the lens of architecture, his research turns to veiqaraqaravi vaka vanua (customary ways of serving, caring, and honouring) as it lives within diaspora communities, following curiosity as a way of tracing pathways back toward familiar grounds.

While at university, Kaline built a strong foundation in medium-density housing and education projects, working in a local practice around Te Whanganui-a-tara. But it is his deep commitment to Indigenous knowledge and design that defines his practice, working alongside various Indigenous groups. That commitment carries directly into his new role as part of DGSE's Indigenous Design Rōpū (IDR).

Kaline’s passion in architecture is driven from lived experiences, storytelling through the craft of narrative design, creating meaningful architecture that creates allows impactful design to take place, valuing to create positive change to people’s lives.
